Seamstress / stitcher

Blue Tin Production is a women of color apparel manufacturing workers co-operative working toward developing a global model for sustainability and labor in manufacturing.

We are hiring full-time seamstresses to join our studio in Chicago! 

 

REQUIREMENTS

– Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial apparel sewing

– Comfort operating, troubleshooting, and adjusting industrial manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to straight-stitch machines, sergers, and other machines and equipment

– Knowledge in general garment construction

– Detail oriented and organized

– Preferred but not required: experience in industrial cutting

– Preferred but not required: experience in pattern-making, sample-making, and/or luxury quality control standards

 

*please note: English language proficiency, childcare needs, and other presumed barriers are non-issues, as we provide on-site interpreters and childcare, support with transportation, etc as needed.

We have a 12-month onboarding process. During this time benefits include payment (hourly) and a raise at month three that includes full healthcare. Upon full onboarding as a member of the co-operative, benefits include but are not limited to:
